LOCAL NIGHT AT THE NICK

Drew Baron and Alan Woodall, in association with The Nickelodeon Cinema present a show for locals by locals, featuring film works of a few friends of mine, and my own film "The Central Idea of Identity: Repetition." The first sixteen people there also will be receiving a free badly xeroxed copy of aleph/set issue 1. And if you like the poster, I made it, and I'll make you a poster for anything you like. Except of course for bar mitzvas.

This is all going down TODAY (Thursday, Nov 5th, 10:00 p.m.) so be there.

Boxes

Heart (with Matthew Kappler)

Lostman Go To Yesterday

Mass-produced boxes have been able to be art objects since Warhol, brought to new levels through Mike Bidlo's appropriations... These are a bit different, because each box is a unique three dimensional amalgam of multiple work surfaces. Each box is found on the side of the road, or a left-over piece of refuse from my own consumer life. I'm using the cheapest paint available- craft paint, usually from wal-mart, meant chiefly for the production of non art craft objects (or bad art, which in this case it might be used correctly).
The boxes themselves are not sculptures, but paintings in the round (though some like Hirst find that painting is sculpture...blah 666). These boxes, of which there will be a plethora upon completion, represent a cult of materials- affordable, expendable, taboo, and inferior- which I find greatly represent my aesthetic and the aesthetic of my colleagues
(of a new sort of thing I like to call Armageddon Pop).

Upon completion the boxes will be stacked into totems as high as possible.

(the bottom is my refrigerator, also a box).

High Priestess

Full-Size nude, produced from life under David Voros,
then embellished with various acrylics/paint pens.
Currently displayed at The Art Shack coffee house on Rosewood-
you can (and should) purchase it for 600$

The figure is pierced with nails for a reason (and not just to look subversive).
Before beginning this painting I had a dream where I hammerred two nails
into the wood on the back of a stretched canvas.
When I stretched this one, I stretched it badly,
and had to use two nails to compliment stapling.

The occurrences of late

It has been a long and arduous road.
So here's the update on recent events.

There have been a few art events of note,
such as the exuberant Luna-Tic-Tac-Toe art show,
curated by the lovely Heather Bauer, hosted by the lovely Mr. Brian Harmon(!)
There was a house filled with art, by myself, Patrick Jesus Jeffords and Mr. Lady (L.H.O.O.Q.)///

Live performances by Patrick Jeffords, The Amazing Jonathan, and OMGIRL (myself, MaKa, and Zak). Balloons were tossed about the entire evening. There were jello shots but no one told me that they were not just plain jello. So it was a good night.

Patrons agree, the Triforce was "alive and well".

The Big Art Show

Fri, Feb 6th we (the triumvirate Patrick, Leslie, and I) had "The Big Art Show" at USC's student gallery. Here's some of our new collaborative work that was in the show. I would have taken some pictures *during* the show but there were so many people. Probably ten thousand people.

This one above is for taking pictures of yourself being reborn.

Huge-acrylic/googley-eyes/etc. on panel. $o huge.

God have mercy.

Universal Totemic Aleph-Hedron

Biggest one of these I've done in a while, it's like 5 ft. tall(?)
Has all the usual trappings, except this time within the space
of the geometic form.

Hopefully will be making some more like this, in terms of look and scale.

The Goddess

Painted the figure for this a long time ago, then added the background.
From a dream in 2008.

ADHD Anima(tion)

This weekend I made a short video animation (if you could call it that)/
it's made up of still images of drawings and photos with some video clips.
Expect this to be the first of many.
It's also going to be embedded at the bottom of the page for a while.
Enjoy.
